Should you eat Gluten-Free?

Gluten free diet. Oh boy, what a touchy subject!

Should you eat a gluten free diet

I've heard and read so many things about this. From the eye rolls b/c some think it's a made up condition, or it's the new fad, to the restaurants that ask if it's allergy or preference, to those who say gluten is damaging for everyone.

What I can tell you is that as of right now many people are self-diagnosed as gluten or wheat sensitive. That's because they do feel better when avoiding gluten and wheat. Meaning their digestive symptoms improve, their fatigue improves, their brain fog improves, their joint pain improves…. Ok, you get the picture.

Only recently has gluten sensitivity begun to be recognized in the medical community, it's called non-celiac gluten (or wheat) sensitivity.

Clinical studies have shown that even if you don't have celiac disease or a wheat allergy, you can experience digestive symptoms (and other symptoms--> hello rash, joint pain, fatigue, brain fog) after eating wheat or gluten.

It's only one of the many things I look at when developing a plan for my patients who are suffering from digestive complaints.

If you are interested in whether or not gluten might be an issue for you schedule an appointment to discuss what’s best for YOU.
