I've got a new favorite summer drink! Pink lavenade -- which is just lavender tea lemonade. I have always considered lavender a non-food since the essential oil is not for internal ingestion. I've only ever used it as a room fragrance or on a sachet near my pillow at night. I've learned I can make tea from the Lavendula officinalis herb. When I found out that adding lemon juice to the tea makes a gorgeous pink lavenade I was super excited to give it a try! I add stevia drops as well to sweeten, but honey would work too, especially if you add the honey to the warm tea since it will dissolve faster!
M's Pink Lavenade
3 Tbsp Lavendula officinalis flowers
6 cups boiling water
Juice of 3 lemons
40-50 stevia drops
Pour boiling water over lavender flowers and steep 30 minutes.
Strain lavender tea
Add lemon juice and stevia (or honey)
Chill and enjoy over ice!
