One Thing People Say Their IBS Symptoms Are Associated With

FOOD!!

Fast food that causes IBS symptoms and abdominal pain

Great, and it's usually your very favorite foods, right?! How many times have you thought you figured out what was causing your IBS symptoms, only to be surprised when they popped back up even while avoiding those foods? Abdominal pain, bloating, gas? Sound familiar?

Patients usually come to me after they feel like they've tried everything and cannot figure on their own out how to stop the symptoms.

Several studies have shown that there is a significant improvement in IBS symptoms in response to a ‘‘food-specific IgG4’’-guided exclusion diet.

In a 2004 study, food sensitivity tests were given to 150 participants. The patients avoided the foods that scored high on their IgG blood test. They found that having an elimination diet tailored to the person's specific IgG food sensitivities resulted in a decrease in IBS symptoms by up to 30%.

The Alcat food intolerance panel is one test that I recommend to my patients to help identify where to start first with decreasing IBS symptoms. The basic test looks at 100 common foods and substances which may cause unwanted digestive symptoms.
